Independent Medical Education


The Bristol-Myers Squibb Independent Medical Education Program supports activities designed to enhance the professional skills and knowledge of health care professionals, when the program is independently developed and conducted by a qualified medical education provider. Supported programs must be objective, balanced and scientifically rigorous.

All live and virtual activities of medical educational value are eligible for support. Funding priority will be given to accredited activities. However, a limited amount of funding may be available for non-accredited programs offering activities of educational value that would satisfy conventional requirements for accreditation. All programs must be devoted to education and must be made available to the broad community of health care providers.

Eligible recipients for medical education grants
for accredited programs and materials include:

Hospitals

Community health centers

Medical Schools & Universities

Professional associations

Managed care organizations

Academic medical centers

Accredited medical education companies

Grand Rounds

Bristol-Myers Squibb provides grants of $5,000 or less to help fund accredited providers, to support honorariums and lodging for non-affiliated speakers, and to cover modest meal expenses. Grand Rounds must be open to all attendees, and programming must be dedicated to promoting objective and balanced scientific education related to disease state and treatment options.
