Addressing Unmet Medical Needs
Bristol-Myers Squibb strives to help our neighbors by working with non-profit partners to improve access to treatment, eliminate health disparities and promote healthy lifestyles.

Our list of accomplishments includes:

  • The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital
With the help of Bristol-Myers Squibb, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey, established one of the state's largest and most comprehensive children’s hospitals. The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital has launched three clinical centers of excellence dedicated to the study and treatment of some of the most urgent health challenges facing today’s youth: childhood obesity, infectious disease and rheumatic disease.
  • University Medical Center of Princeton Community Health Center
Bristol-Myers Squibb is helping to create a community health center to serve uninsured and underinsured adults and children at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, a new hospital set to open in central New Jersey in late 2011. In addition to meeting the primary care needs of struggling families, the clinic also will help those whose physical illnesses are complicated by depression, anxiety and other mental health issues through services such as individual psychotherapy, family therapy and addiction counseling.
  • The Bristol-Myers Squibb Trauma Center at Capital Health Regional Medical Center
As one of only 10 designated trauma centers in New Jersey, Capital Health handles some of life’s most dire emergencies, providing around-the-clock specialized care for seriously injured people in six New Jersey counties and Bucks County, Pennsylvania. A gift from Bristol-Myers Squibb is helping Capital Health enhance and expand its comprehensive trauma care services – including emergency surgery, neurosurgery and interventional radiology – to meet growing demand.
  • Syracuse Welcomes First Children’s Hospital
Families in and around Syracuse, New York, now have access to a wide array of primary and specialized medical services for children with the opening of Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. A Bristol-Myers Squibb donation to the hospital’s capital campaign supported the hospital’s construction while reaffirming the company’s commitment to the region, which is home to a company manufacturing facility.
  • Ronald McDonald House of Central New York
A grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb will expand a Ronald McDonald House in Syracuse, New York, adding a teen room for siblings of hospitalized children. The Ronald McDonald House of Central New York has long been a home away from home for the families of children receiving care at nearby hospitals. While its playroom meets the needs of younger visitors, older siblings need some space, too. Bristol-Myers Squibb’s contribution will provide such a place.
  • Mental Health Services for At-Risk Children
Based in Hamilton, New Jersey, Family Guidance Center offers behavioral healthcare services such as outpatient mental health treatment, substance abuse treatment, financial counseling and education, as well as a school for children with multiple handicaps. Support from Bristol-Myers Squibb has helped support the center’s Children’s Day Treatment Program, which offers comprehensive, therapeutic, after-school care for low-income children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral issues.
  • Millhill Child & Family Development Corporation
The educational, social, behavioral health and medical services provided by the Millhill Child & Family Development Corporation are a vital safety net for struggling families in Trenton, New Jersey. A grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb has helped support the Millhill Medical Home Link, a program that screens children for medical problems and developmental disabilities, and coordinates care with doctors and other specialists in the region.
  • Earlier Mental Health Diagnosis for Vulnerable Children
Trinity Counseling Service in Princeton, New Jersey, a non-profit behavioral health organization, was able to expand its childhood mental health consultation services to serve kindergartners in the Princeton Regional Schools, thanks in part to a grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb. Intervention for behavioral and developmental problems can help young children and their families address issues before they become more serious.
