Informatics
Modern drug discovery and development requires rapid access to increasing amounts of internal and external scientific data. At Bristol-Myers Squibb, our R&D Informatics group works with colleagues throughout R&D to manage the wide range of information essential to discover and develop new medicines. From information on new biological targets for drug discovery, through data from global clinical trials and information about the safety of our products, modern technologies are used to gather and integrate data in real time and make it accessible to Bristol-Myers Squibb scientists and staff worldwide, 24 hours a day.
Our ability to ensure that information is readily accessible, can be shared among projects, and is organized and stored for future reference
is a critical part of rapidly and efficiently moving a compound through development and successfully bringing it to market. At the same time, the ability to monitor both new drugs during development and products already on the market helps to ensure the safety of those using our products.
Our team explores ways to improve the R&D process through automation, process improvement and new technologies. As an example, given the significant increase in volume and complexity of data that our scientists must analyze, we are providing them with new tools to better and more quickly visualize the information.
We employ highly-motivated professionals with backgrounds in science, or expertise in information technology — or both — who have enthusiasm for collaborating with scientists, clinicians and medical personnel. Professionals join Informatics because they are interested in scientific research and development, enjoy interacting with diverse and highly skilled colleagues and are passionate about discovering medicines that make a difference in people’s lives.
